Needs Work
Not bad for what it is, but this app could stand improvement in at least two areas. First, it does not handle batch processing well. I can drag and drop a bunch of files onto the app, but it opens a separate window for each one and thereby essentially requires processing one by one. Second, file naming is terrible. One should have the option of using the original file name with some sort of sequencing from there. Together, these two issues make the app essentially unusable for the batch processing of multiple files.
I also think it is a mistake to assume that everyone who wants to split a PDF or image into tiles wants to go big. This kind of splitting or slicing app can also be useful to someone who, for example, wants to divide into four equal pieces an 8.5x11 or A4 sheet containing four flash cards. For users like that, it would be useful to have presets for card stock, etc.
I don’t know why, but when I split an A4 sheet into 4 equal rectangles and then try to process them through ScanTailor, ScanTailor complains that the DPI needs to be fixed. This is not your problem. However, this suggests the possibility that SplitPrint is resizing the pieces in a problematic way, perhaps on the assumption that the objective is to create a big composite from the pieces. As noted above, not everyone who might find an app like this useful has that objective. Some of us have smaller ends in mind.
And I just have to add that the in-app purchases are cheesy. I mean, seriously.
I do like that you chose a dog for the icon and opening image.
